Hello January IFADs and GDADs,
In preparation for the Time BAsed Project:
- take seven images of traces found in the environment around you. This should reflect the traces of your home environment and or places you go in your every day life. Some examples of things to look out for include: a marks such as a coffee cup on a table, a scratch, a trace of liquid over a surface, dust marks, rubbings from an eraser, pencil sharpening stuff, stains of various sorts, etc…
- You will also need to collect traces of your presence and your surrounding as ‘material’ with which to work. These should describe the trace of human presence. Some examples: dust, hair, crumbs, etc….
- · You will need to print your images onto both paper and clear acetate for use in the studio on Monday morning. Size images A4, A5, A6.
- · Bring in a minimum of 5 sheets of clear acetate size A4 and 1 sheet size A3 (You can buy it at the UCA art shop or from the Library). A4 costs £. 0.20 and A3, £. 0.60.
- · Bring in cello tape and scratching tools to intervene on the surface of the acetate sheets
- Writing task: think a list of at least 5 possible ways of making traces.
